December 28, 2008. Have been very remiss in updating this site. I guess other "priorities" have been keeping me busy. As you can see, we have moved from the 71 Chevelle to the 70 Haas Chevelle. We have had a very busy season with most of it running with the Chicago Wise Guys. It has really been a great time with a lot of learning taking place. We started the year with the same motor that we had in the 71, 468 cu in with an 8-71 Littlefield at 32.9% over. Our first race was at Route 66 at the Match Race mania race. I was introduced to some great people in the Wise Guys that were very helpful.
June 20, 2006. Have an Edelbrock data recorder in the car. Hope the "investment" will help in extra information to make the car go faster. Had to order a couple of extra sensors due to faulty units. Waiting on some jets for the hi-speed. Also have some fancy MSD electronics and a distributor that I have unhooked and removed because the car couldn't do better than a 8.40 on the three trips to the strip this year. Car sounds a lot more powerful since these "fancy" items were retarding the timing. We'll see. Plan to run at Byron on the 25th of June. We'll either blow the head gaskets, go into tire shake, kick the rods out or run a 7.40, at least that is my prediction. Was going to run on the 18th of June but got rained out. Was going to go all out, 43.5% over on the 468. Since a diaper was put in the car over the winter along with a rear motor plate, the car is ready to hold more power and if the engine lets go, the diaper should contain the oil. October 29, 2005. With the able help of my pit crew (Bruce, Charlie, David Christina, Danielle and Bridget) , we have had this car to a best of a 7.86 at 172.54 in 2005. Of course I couldn't have got anywhere near close to this without the help and support of my beautiful wife, thanks. The 7.86 came late in the year. Perfect run on a crisp evening in late October, that was after the car overheated and we had to be pushed off the line. The car had just recently received a new front motor plate, travel limiters and a anti-roll bar in the rear. Even so, it was the end of a pretty dismal year. Had some bad luck with the block in the car, kept pulling out head studs and then it would blow head gaskets. Bought a block off of eBay and got jerked around, live and learn. Bought a brand new Dart block and by the time I paid for it and the "extra" machine work my enthusiasm was gone for the year. That was in April so most of the summer was spent on doing normal family things (that I should be doing anyhow). Still haven't put the block to use yet as I bought a 454 block from a fellow down south and that is what is in the car now. The block is working good and until it's gone, I'm not in a big hurry to use the Dart. 2004 ended with a best of 7.95 at 168. Was running 32.9% overdrive and producing 24LBS of boost. Was pretty good considering I had blown about four sets of head gaskets. In the learning mode, was running at 10.9% overdrive. The best the car would run was 8.40's. Still a fun ride and made sense because about 600 LBS of weight was removed. Before the weight was removed, the best the car ran was a 9.03 in 1996. May 02 2004 Ran at Byron Dragway. First run was of the big picture above. Yanked the wheels four feet, came down with a bang. The main power cutoff switch shut off after the oil pan hit the track. The oil pan went from 9 3/4" deep to 9" deep. The next run was the first full run! A 8.66 at 154.55 MPH. Still very rich on the top end, need to adjust the high speed. Ran two more runs that day. The next run I pulled the shifter into 2nd right off the line and ran a 8.80 and noticed steam coming from the engine. The next run had the same steam and slowed to an 8.90. In the pits, found that we kicked out the head gaskets. We were officially done for the day. Got the car back. Changed a load of stuff and have been racing!. August 03 2003 Hey, I finally got around to building a site for the family racing car. It's been a long road, retiring from the Navy, buying a permanent house, building a garage, etc. Since the car is presently in the shop getting a coat of paint and some chassis modifications, I had a little time to put this site together. This site is here for you and for me to follow Blownalky Motorsports through it's racing endeavors.
Our MissionTo go as fast/quick as possible on the available budget without getting killed! I'll also try to provide the most up to date info on the Blownalky Motorsports racing campaign.
Company ProfileFamily and friends that are dedicated to racing a Blown Alcohol Chevrolet Chevelle. One of the founding members of the Supercharged-Performance team. Most people who have seen us race are impressed with how much money can be spent on racing! The nutty driver of this car is me, Tom Dwyer. My support comes from my wonderful wife, my great kids and anyone else I can drag to the race track. The far upper left picture on top is of the car in the beginning of 2003, just before it was sent off for a chassis update. The front end is off and the engine and trans are about to be removed. The far upper right picture is of the Chevelle in the early 90's. Here is an excerpt from the old web site: This was a fun ride. 427 Cu In Big Block Chevy. Tunnel ram with two 750 Holley carbs. Doug Nash Five Speed with 3.25 first gear. 5.43 Gear in the rear. Best time with the car was a 10:31 at just over 130 MPH. Used 112 Octane Racing gas. The car weighed in at a hefty 3320 pounds. All steel except the hood and the front bumper. Rear tires are 17X33X15 Goodyear Eagles. Pictures were taken at Carlsbad raceway in southern California.
The upper middle picture is of the car on one of it's first runs with a blower. It ran a 9.10 at the slippery track at Carlsbad in California. The following is an excerpt from the old web page: This is the same car with an aluminum headed 468 Cu In Chevy. Used a Turbo 400 transmission for this combination. Rear gearing was reduced to a 4.10 ring and pinion. Best time with this combination was a 9:03 at 149 MPH. This was after only six runs with a 10% over driven 8.71 Littlefield blower. Have pulleys to run the blower at 43% over. The car should be well into the middle eight second range then. This setup ran on pure alcohol.
